Current Diet & Fitness Routine (Quarantine Edition)

Hi friends! Whenever I receive questions regarding my personal diet/ fitness routines, I never know exactly how to respond (concisely, at least). I’m a firm believer in the fact that each body is built (somewhat) differently, and its needs are just as unique. With that, I can only speak for my own, and what I’ve found makes it run and feel the best 🙂

This ‘schedule’ is quite quarantine-specific, as, in my ‘normal life’ it’s much more difficult to accurately gauge these details. I’ve definitely taken advantage of the slowness the past few months, and am using it as an opportunity to create a healthy — – yet manageable – routine I can stick with once life picks up a bit more.IMG 4556 1500x2000 - Current Diet & Fitness Routine (Quarantine Edition)IMG 4558 1500x2000 - Current Diet & Fitness Routine (Quarantine Edition)Intermittent Fasting

I can’t pinpoint exactly when I began implementing fasting into my daily routine, and I’m nowhere near religious with it, but I’ve found it to be a crucial component in me feeling my best/ healthiest. I personally loathe the feeling of being completely full, and especially cannot stand to go to bed soon after eating. Anyone else?! Because of these reasons, I generally fast for the entire morning. I always aim to drink water (oftentimes with lemon) first thing in the AM, followed by coffee a couple of hours later, and my first meal around noon or 1 PM. In the evenings, I’m typically done with eating for the day by 8 PM, which leaves me a fair enough time to digest as I’m unwinding, helping me avoid tossing and turning/ feeling full all night.

Diet

No two days are the same (in any capacity, really) ,and for some reason I find myself struggling when asked about my diet… why doest that feel like such a complicated question?! Most likely because my mantra is to, to the best of my ability, always treat my body well & do/ eat what’s best for it. But hey, sometimes what’s best for it is truffle fries and a margarita (my guilty pleasures)…. So you see my conflict! However, if I had to decide, here’s what a typical day looks like, as of late:

  •  Water x ~85 ounces
  • Coffee (latte or with almond milk)

Breakfast

  • Oatmeal with brown sugar and fresh fruit

Snack Options

  • Orange slices
  • GoMacro Bar (Protein Pleasure is my favorite!)
  • Chocolate covered almonds
  • Hippeas
  • Brussels sprouts with balsamic

Lunch / Dinner

  • Kale + quinoa salad with lemon dressing, lots of nuts, veggies, dried fruit
  • Red lentil pasta
  • Cauliflower crust pizza
  • Chicken + veggies

Fitness

It took me a minute (or month… whatever) to nail down a sufficient fitness routine, as in my day-to-day, I generally go to the gym 5-6 times a week. Even still: I miss it so much! The gym has become both a hobby and a therapy session for me, and not having to focus on anything else for an hour is many times a highlight of my day(s). That being said, I’ve gotten into a home routine that is satisfying in its own way, and I’m hoping maintain it even when gyms reopen. On average, I do a 45 minute workout (variation of a couple videos from the channels linked below) 6 days a week.
