I want to say thank you to the sweet Kathleen over at KIKOTI for this tee! Anyone who follows me on Instagram might remember me sharing this picture , and setting a goal of focusing on kindness in 2017… which is not always easy! I’m so human and am always trying to challenge myself to be, among other things, a kinder person. It’s definitely a daily task, and for me, can require many reminders throughout the day. I know I (too often) find myself far too consumed with my own wants and needs, and I have to give myself a little pep talk, and remember how good it is to take the focus off of myself and be there for someone else.

I remember one time, in particular, I was at the drive-thru at Starbucks when a thought occurred to me: I always heard stories of people who would go to pay for their coffee/ meal, to find that the person ahead of them had already taken care of it. Naturally (and selfishly) my initial thought was “why has that never happened to me?! That would make my entire life if a stranger did something so minor yet generous for me.” Thankfully, that thought was followed by the realization that I could be that generous stranger to someone else. When I pulled up to the window, I paid for the car behind me, and I felt even better than I would have if I was the one receiving my coffee for free.

It feels good to do things for others, simply because we can; with no expectation or hidden agenda. I truly believe that when you’re happy, you want to see others around you enjoying life as well. And if you aren’t happy, oftentimes the best solution is to shift the focus off of yourself, and onto giving someone else a reason to smile.

Didn’t mean to get this sappy on a Monday… but you know me (!). I hope you are all inspired to Keep It Kind On The Inside- have an amazing week!
