Hello Friday! How was everyone’s week? I need to hurry up and get my butt to the gym, so I’m going to make today’s post short and sweet for all of us 🙂 Let’s talk gratitude… Week 5: Something someone gave you: This prompt was more of a challenge for me, seeing as ‘gifts’ fall last on my love language list. However, I am incredibly sentimental, and a gift someone can give me that will often mean more than anything else is a card! (I sound like my parents saying that lol.) The older I’ve gotten, the more I’ve begun to deconstruct my tendencies surrounding objects and possessions. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVED (like, loooooved) receiving new Barbies when I was little, and always fancied a new purse from my dad in Jr. High. But a series of life events (and the way I was raised) have taught me one lesson I’m incredibly grateful for: those are all just things. They can be lost, stolen, replaced, forgotten about, or outgrown. I have almost every card ever given to me since I was probably 9. #HoarderTendencies. Just kidding. To me, nothing compares to the inside jokes scribbled down by my sisters, bible verses thoughtfully inscribed by my grandma, words of encouragement from my mom, or my dad’s penmanship.
P.S, I wasn’t trying to be deep or anything, but I literally looked around at everything I own and realized it’s mostly journals and shoes, so here we are… hah.
What’s something someone gave you that you’ll always be grateful for? I suppose it doesn’t even have to be a possession – a chance you were given, or a quality they helped you discover?
I hope you have the best weekend, see you next week (or on IG)!
