One of my favorite trends of this summer has been the revival of bright, and dare I say, electric colors. As nostalgia looms over all of us (think: polaroids, the sudden Clueless infatuation, and many other 90’s related trends and products [some of which should’ve just been abandoned the first time around..]), we’re now moving even further back in time. Hello 1980’s style revival!
While I was studying at FIDM, some of my favorite courses were always the ones covering trends and trend forecasting. I always found the pendulum swing of trends fascinating, and best of all, how societal and political trends effect the fashion industry. You can’t subtract current events from fashion, and I am strangely passionate about that topic lol…
Okay, I won’t bore you with a history lesson, but the next time you see a trend resurfacing from another decade, take a second to think about if that political climate nears what we’re experiencing today (it most likely does!). Done with the nerdy stuff, so let’s just talk style.
All of the neon and bold colors are giving me a breath of fresh air at the moment! (I’m typing this in an all black ensemble, JSYK.) Our beloved neutrals aren’t going anywhere, but if you’re looking for the perfect party dress this summer – go for it!
Sidenote: Makeup has not been my friend lately. Even when taking blog pictures, it’s been really difficult to convince myself to take the time to put a full face on (ladies get it – ha). Especially with this heat!! So for now, please don’t mind my sunnies being my ‘makeup’ of choice.
