Hi friends! I’m back today with something a little different: It’s DIY time!
At the beginning of the summer, I was combing the internet/ every store I entered for a gold chain belt. Since purchasing a Chanel one is currently (and sadly!) an unrealistic option… I did the next best thing and made my own. Not sure that’s actually the next best thing to Chanel.. lol.. but I didn’t like any other options on the market!
First things first: you’re going to be shopping at Michael’s for this project, so go ahead and get your 40% coupon ready now 😉
I purchased two Flat curb chains, at 24″ each
Now, what I should have done is used these Chain nose pliers, but since we’re friends, I can admit that I was impatient and unprepared and went old school with some good old scissors. ha. I wouldn’t recommend it though, so spend the $6 and use the proper tool 😉
Use your pliers to open one link on one of the chains, and hook it to the end of the other chain. Once you’ve closed the link back up, you’ll have one long 48” chain!
From here, you’ll want to attach the Gold lobster clasp to one end of the chain, the same way as above.
Aaaaand, that’s seriously it! Depending on how long you want your chain to fall, you can remove links accordingly. I ended up shortening mine in a Vegas parking structure with the help of my sister, vodka, and those same scissors (again, don’t recommend)… But this was the final product.
DIYs like this are always fun, because for something like $10 (when you use your coupon ;)), you can create a unique trend-piece, versus overspending, only to look like everyone else. How do you guys feel about DIYs? And what accessory do you think is going to rule fall fashion?
