Spring is all about getting organized, cleaning out that closet, and maybe even being a bit minimalistic with your wardrobe (since you likely donated much of it during that caffeine-fueled spring cleaning). As the days become warmer, less really does become more. It’s all about finding those wardrobe basics that can be worn and re-worn,… and then re-styled and worn again.
Since I’ve found myself adapting to the ‘less is more’ theory this season, I’ve found that there are a few items worth having on hand that will easily be your holy grail this time of the year…
1. The sundress — a total given. Every gal needs at least one sundress that she knows looks great on her, makes her feel confident, and preferably doesn’t require much maintenance/ironing (I hate ironing !!). If you have a handful, even better, but start with finding one flattering sundress you’ll want to live in that isn’t crazy trendy.
2. The lightweight outerwear — in Southern California, there is never really any need for heavy outerwear – but since we can also be total babies about the weather, we could still use a third piece. There is something so fresh about a medium or light-wash denim jacket for springtime, especially paired with all of the neutrals you will most likely be sporting.
3. The statement earring — I just love a statement earring (duh), regardless of the season; but with all of the vivacious colors spring has to offer – there’s no better time than the present to go all out. This is such a fun category to be eccentric in, and wearing all the tassels/ fringe/ dangly earrings will have you convinced you’re really off vacationing in Mexico, not tanning in your backyard. On the other hand, I’ve been all about a simple, but dramatic gold earring as of late. They match with more, are timeless, and I can’t wait to be so extra and wear them by the pool or to the beach.
What do you guys consider your spring wardrobe essentials? I hope you’re having a fab Monday!
