Happy holidays, friends! While summer will always have a special place in my heart – let’s be honest: this truly is the most wonderful time of the year for food, fellowship, and fashion. If you feel like your wardrobe was basic as can be the last 11 months, December is without a doubt the month to turn things around. From plaid to metallics, sequins to embellishments; and two of my personal favorites: velvet and faux fur.
If you guys read last year’s holiday style post, then you may recall my distaste for anything cheesy (especially when it comes to holiday dressing). I am certainly not one to show up in a color blocked red & green ensemble (actually cringing imagining this). Thank God a gal has many other alternatives for dressing appropriately yet expressively from November-January.
I wore this more understated romper + coat look to a Christmas party this past weekend- after the romper sadly sat in my closet for a good 11 months (I knew it would have its moment, come December!) But of course- since it doesn’t have a giant reindeer plastered on it and isn’t doused in tinsel, you can get much more wear out of it! Linking some other velvet favorites below 🙂
When it comes to faux fur: more is MORE. I’m all about eccentric outerwear, and if you’re having to suffer through the cold, might as well have a little fun while doing so. It isn’t everyday you come across an outerwear piece that captures your heart (but not all of your paycheck- ya know?), so my rule of thumb has become: regardless of the season, be on the hunt! Even if you’re currently in a drought in the middle of summer- you’ll thank yourself eventually 😉
While looking for some faux to link I found this gem of a coat! The best color, less than $40 & from Target?! I might have to make a pitstop before work tomorrow to pick this up…
What’s your holiday outfit go-to? Anyone else way more festive than me and love wearing red & green?! Thanks for sopping by 🙂
